The amount of shallots depends on size & weight shallot. The outer skin is brown like a normal onion, but peel back two layers and see the rich purple color of the inner layers. The white flesh of the onion is succulent. Our Fresh Shallots are golden pink/red in color, an oblong shape, and have a papery outer skin. They have a sweet, mild flavor and when added to sauces, serve as a thickening agent. When selecting shallots, make sure they are dry, plump, and firm with no decay or sprouts. Most shallots have two or three clove-like sections.
